Moruya River Bridge

The Moruya River bridge has a rich history tied to the development of the Moruya region. Originally, a punt was used to cross the river north of Moruya township. This was replaced by the first bridge in 1876, marking a significant improvement in connectivity for the area. Over time, the bridge underwent several upgrades to accommodate increasing traffic and modern needs, with replacement bridges opened in 1900, 1945, and 1966.

Being a major crossing point for the coastal Princes Highway, the bridge is also a vital link for the community, supporting the growth of Moruya.

The city acts as a hub for industries like granite quarrying, which supplied materials for iconic structures such as the Sydney Harbour Bridge pylons. Its evolution reflects the broader development of infrastructure in the South Coast region of New South Wales.
