Brisbane Places to Eat and Drink

Greater Brisbane Map, Queensland.

With a great new selection of restaurants and bars to be found in both Brisbane and the South East of Queensland, you will not be without a place to eat or drink.

Below is a list of some of Brisbane’s trendiest places:

Fortitude Valley

Alfred & Constance, Fortitude Valley

Alfred & Constance is offering delicious food for all tastes! Check out their Vanguard Beer Garden Restaurant with tasty meals made for sharing using only the freshest of ingredients. It also has three bars with a whole range of drinkables to try including the Blue Hawaiian, the Dr Funk and the Zombie, with a strict limit of one per customer! At the White Lightning Tiki Bar, try on of the refreshing cocktail jugs ora spiked Stonefruit Superstar from the Alcoholic Juice & Smoothie Station!

Alfred & Constance occupies two beautiful vintage Queenslander homes in Fortitude Valley, with a huge outdoor garden area to take advantage of Brisbane’s climate, while still retaining plenty of intimate nooks and crannies.

Chowhouse, Fortitude Valley

Chowhouse, the new eatery at Fortitude Valley, has injected a tasty selection of freshly cooked Asian street food at the popular brunch and weekend bar strip.

With a menu that sports delicious dishes such as Indonesian Nasi Goreng alongside other tried and tested breakfast choices, through to street food style bites, tasty grills and a baked-daily selection of sweets, Chowhouse offers well-priced food perfectly suited to Brisbane’s sticky summers.

Brisbane City Center

Pony Lounge & Dining, Brisbane City

Sydney’s Pony has galloped into Brisbane with the opening of Pony Lounge & Dining at Eagle Street Pier.

The classy fit-out harnesses the theatrics of the open-plan kitchen and grill (yes, that is a whole pig roasting away), while capturing the money shot across the Brisbane River and Story Bridge.

Brisbane-born head chef Damian Heads has led the kitchen to create an inspiring menu based on the restaurant’s rustic, casual dining concept, showcasing the finest cuts of meat, fresh seafood and share plates.

Riverbar & Kitchen, Brisbane City

On the promenade level of Riparian Plaza, overlooking the water, the Riverbar & Kitchen has seating both inside and outside to have a meal, a morning coffee or a gathering place for drinks after work.

In place of Boardwalk Bar and Bistro, which closed earlier this year, Matt Moran and Peter Sullivan’s Riverbar & Kitchen has rolled into town just in time for Christmas.

The 480 capacity casual bar reflects its waterfront location with a clear nautical theme and offers light breakfasts, through to share plates, grills, pizzas and drinks at night.

Fat Noodle, Brisbane City

Those looking for a great late night feed now have more choices than the fast food strip in the Brunswick Street Mall when Luke Nguyen launched his first interstate Fat Noodle restaurant in the Treasury Casino, which will open until 3am on weekends.

The 100-seater restaurant will serve up ’street style’ Vietnamese, Chinese, Thai and Malay food, including Nguyen’s famous Fat Pho Noodles with a 20-hour beef broth.

Located at the Treasury Brisbane, at the top of the Queen St Mall.

Bistro One Eleven, Brisbane City Center

Catering to Brisbane’s power-lunch corporate crowd, Philip Johnson’s swish new restaurant is a welcome addition to the riverside strip.

Taking pride of place in the new One One One building, the space exudes understated elegance that is sure to impress.

Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner on weekdays and Saturday for dinner, the always-evolving menu features bites such as scotch duck eggs through to mains of fresh local fish, meat and poultry.

South Bank

Bacchus, South Bank

At the ever popular Brisbane South Bank, another world-class dining option with the launch of highly anticipated pool, bar and restaurant concept - Bacchus.

Named after the Roman god of food, wine and indulgence and headed up by Executive Chef Dominic Rose, Bacchus showcases a modern Mediterranean menu with a focus on the latest culinary craze - olive oil matching.

In a first for Brisbane, Bacchus also houses a New York and Miami-inspired terrace pool, bar and cabana lounge area, making it the perfect destination for poolside cocktails this summer.

Sunshine Coast

Samba Grill, Noosaville

A taste of Brazil has arrived on the Sunshine Coast with churrasco restaurant Samba Grill opening in Noosaville.

Brazilian specialities are highlighted in the breakfast and lunch menus, and in a first for the region, ‘Rodizio’ style service in the evening and Sunday lunch will be offered for a fixed, all-you-can-eat price.

Gold Coast

The Fish House, Burleigh Heads

The owners of the renowned Hellenika at Nobby’s Beach have just opened the doors to this new beachfront, seafood restaurant with an emphasis on simple southern Mediterranean flavours.

Open Wednesday to Sunday for lunch and dinner, The Fish House has a strict dress code so pack a change of clothes if you’re spending the day at the beach beforehand!

Choice Selection of New Bars in Brisbane and Surrounds

Nant Whisky Cellar and Bar

Whisky bars are looking set to become the new craft beer joint, and the opening of Nant in the Emporium Complex in Fortitude Valley is setting the bar high. Offering 80 single-malt whiskies from around the world (including Nant’s three premium drops), as well as a selection of Tassie wines and a tapas menu peppered with Tasmanian produce, it’s a clear taste of the ‘other pointy end’ of Australia in Brisbane.

Sixes and Sevens

Brisbane’s James St is abuzz with the new addition of Sixes and Sevens, occupying a heritage-listed cottage once used for pop up sales and an adjoining deck and astro-turfed outdoor space. The owners of cru bar (just up the street) have given the cottage a new lease of life with tropical wallpaper, salvaged timber, exposed light bulbs and a tasty gastropub menu.

O’Lea

East Brisbane is quickly blossoming into the land of the small bar, with O’Lea settling in as neighbours to Foxy Bean in Woolloongabba. The $10 lunch box specials, filled with the likes of pork steamed buns, Wagyu burgers and rice paper rolls, are particularly enticing.

InCider Trading

In a stroke of what some would call fruitful genius, this new boutique cellar has opened on Wickham St in Fortitude Valley with a very convenient courtyard bar out the back, offering wine and cider by the glass or bottle, wine flights and a succinct tapas menu. Takeaway has never been easier.

Loft

Taking over the space above Archive in West End, Loft is a self-proclaimed New York-style Village bar serving up an impressive repertoire of cocktails, wines and grazing menu. While the uni kids play downstairs, patrons can slip up to Loft for a cosy and classy evening in plush surrounds.

Tippler’s Tap

Wanting to try Chicago-style comfort food and a finely tuned selection of craft beers on tap, head into the industrial streets of Newstead to discover the new man cave otherwise known as Tippler’s Tap.

Sunshine Coast

North of Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast has wonderful National Parks to explore and beaches to enjoy. Sunshine Coast Queensland.
