Located some 3 hours drive northwest of Sydney or 2 hours west from Newcastle, delightful Muswellbrook is centrally located in the Upper Hunter Valley.
There is a Heritage Trail in town that takes you past historical buildings from the early part of the 19th and 20th Centuries. There are chances to go horseriding in the countryside here, be near the food and wine trails and visit stunning national parks.

National Parks in the surrounds of Mussellbrook include Towarri NP in the north, Barrington Tops in the east and Goulburn River to the west. In the south-east is the Wollomi NP and Yengo NP. There is fishing, picnic facilities and camping available at Liddell Lake, as is skiing, sailing and swimming.

On the first saturday during the month of May, Muswellbrook has its annual Upper Hunter Food and Wine Affair. With so many nearby famous wineries, the event is well attended and for good reason, the food and wine is simply delicious.
In the months from August to December, the Muswellbrook Carnivale has fresh food markets and gardens which you can visit. Greyhound and horse races are held throughout the year.
